Simplified significance describes this solid gold Esculapian staff. It is a more petite pendant and will accommodate smaller-diameter necklaces. My objective was to make a simple smooth serpent and staff. With this piece, I have found that optimizing the angles of the coils to produce the best esthetic look takes numerous tries. It is a trial and error endeavor when starting. I started with a small block of wax, and then started carving to see what design was within that little block of wax. This small, simple but significant pendant is what I found.
